This summer, we’re setting out on a journey across the United States by bicycle. What started as an adventure has become something much more meaningful—a chance to share our daughter’s story, raise awareness of epilepsy, and support the research that has changed her life. Our daughter, Leora, had her first seizure when she was just three-months old. What followed were years of uncertainty, fear, and resilience. Seizures became a part of her life—and ours. Like so many families living with epilepsy, we searched for answers, worked through different treatments, and learned to navigate the unpredictability that comes with the condition.

For much of her life, seizure control felt out of reach. But over the past five years, everything has changed. Today, Leora’s seizures are under control thanks to a carefully managed combination of four daily medications. That stability has given her the freedom to grow, learn, and fully embrace life.
We are deeply grateful for the care Leora has received over the years—especially from Dr. Solomon Moshé, who has been a constant presence in her journey since she was very young. His dedication to both patient care and research is a powerful reminder that progress in epilepsy treatment doesn’t happen by chance. It happens because of sustained effort, innovation, and support.
Epilepsy affects millions of people, yet it is often misunderstood and under-discussed. Through this journey, we hope to:
- Raise awareness about epilepsy and its impact on individuals and families
- Share a message of hope that better treatments—and even cures—are possible
- Support the research that makes stories like Leora’s possible
Our ride is connected to something close to our hearts: Together We Walk, our family’s annual charity walk. Each year, we bring together friends, family, and community members to raise funds for epilepsy research. Proceeds support the Epilepsy Research Fund and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM), helping provide critical resources for ongoing research, including Dr. Moshé’s work.
